How can accomplishment be measured as anything more than that which we have achieved to move closer toward the goal of becoming our best self? The drive we each have to change our circumstances in order to reach a better version of our reality is easily observed. What can often be hidden is the un-healthy stress that can become associated with the lack of recovery and relaxation.
When the body is sustained in a state of fight or flight, cortisol levels rise and the body can not reach homeostasis. While our drive to be successful in any aspect of our lives is necessary, it can also be unhealthy if left un-checked. As we are all similar yet different, such we shall find that we each have differences in how to achieve balance between drive and recovery.
Here are a few tips for how this balance may be achieved...
- Slow the breath with deep breathing for a few minutes.
- Exercise regularly a few times per week.
- Eat a healthy balanced diet.
